Bridgett’s Weight Loss Success Story
I have lost nearly 130 pounds, it’s 125. Pretty much my entire adult life I have been very obese. I guess it started around my teenage time. I started to pick up weight drastically and it just kept going and going and going until I realized there was something that needed to be done.Nothing worked long term. I was able to lose weight on Nutrisystem. I gained it back as soon as I came off of those prepackaged meals. Weight Watchers, the same kind of story. I would gain the weight back as soon as I attempted to just go back to normal eating. Then I had surgery and I am able to tell Bridgett’s Weight Loss Success Story.
Why Do You Call It “Bridgett’s Weight Loss Success Story”?
This has been the most successful thing that I’ve been able to do and maintain and keep it off and keep going. The surgery was just a tool to get me where I needed to go, and that was to be able to maintain a small amount of food and eat healthy, make healthy choices. The band was just a tool. It wasn’t the only thing. You have to learn to eat right and do proportions and exercise and just really rethink your whole approach to food.
I get such a wide array of reactions. The biggest thing is, “Oh, my gosh, you look so great. What happened? What did you do?” I am so glad to tell people that I took my weight loss and I took it into my own hands. I made a decision to live a healthy life. I’m happy to tell them what I did. The number-one thing is healthy. I have a different lifestyle. I’m able to have exercise. I guess the one thing that sticks out in my mind is I started to do Zoomba. Coming up to that decision, I was so afraid and I guess I had my old way of thinking. I didn’t think I’d be able to go to a Zoomba class and last 30 minutes, let alone an hour. The day that I went to the class and I got through the entire session, I was almost in tears because I couldn’t believe that I was able to stay in a high-impact aerobic environment and hang in there with those really skinny people. Really gave me such a huge sense of pride that I was able to do this, and it felt good.
There are so many medical illnesses that are so bad on people that are overweight. If you think about hypertension, diabetes, the joints and how that weight affects your body as a whole, your lifestyle, if you think about that and compare it to what you will feel like down the road … You have to think about it down the road. Don’t think about the lack of food, the lack of portions. Think about your quality of life, and if you think about that, it will not be a hard decision.
I love the entire team at MyNewSelf. What I appreciate is that you’re not treated just like a patient. They call me by name. When I call on the phone, they go, “Oh, hi, Bridgett.” I appreciate that. It makes me feel so good. My best friend had her procedure done here as well, and that was one of the biggest things I told her that swayed me was that they treat you like they really care. It’s not about anything else. They care about you and your health and your success. I love that I can call and I can talk to the nutritionist. They offer real advice, and that means so much. It is the very best decision I’ve made in my entire life.
