Dr. Howard Lederer is a board certified general surgeon and fellowship-trained bariatric surgeon.  He performs laparoscopic gastric bypass sleeve gastrectomy and duodenal switch procedures, complex laparoscopic and open revisional bariatric surgery, and a broad array of minimally invasive and complex general surgeries. He also has experience in trauma care.

Prior to joining MyNewSelf, he served 14 years as division chief of bariatric surgery at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.

Dr. Lederer graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Philadelphia, PA, in 1996.  He completed his internship and residency in General Surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH, in 2001, and his Bariatric Surgery and Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship at the University of Minnesota Academic Health Center and School of Medicine in Minneapolis, MN, in 2003.

Dr. Lederer is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and a member the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
