Our Surgeons and Staff
After working 13 years with a different program, Ida Gillera joined the MyNewSelf Bariatrics team in 2008.
Office Worker Ida Gillera
As the office coordinator, Ida works with every patient who comes through the door at MyNewSelf. “My favorite part of working here is meeting all of the patients. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing patients come back six months or even a year [after their procedures]. It makes me proud to see them change so much.” One thing about having weight loss surgery is that sometimes if a long time has passed, even your relatives don’t recognize you. Seeing these transitions can be an amazing and uplifting thing.
As office coordinator, Ida assists patients in meeting insurance qualifications as well as working with them “post-op” in not only making appointments for them to revisit with their surgeon but also answering any questions they have when they call the office.
As to her own commitments to healthy living, Ida’s favorite way of staying active is simply “walking with a group of friends around a lake or park.” This type of activity is perfect for Ida as it gives her the opportunity to do what she loves best—getting to know people. “I’m the type of person who likes to learn more about other people, like about their hobbies and interests,” both of which, she notes, are “happy subjects.”
MyNewSelf is proud to have Ida as a member of the MyNewSelf Bariatrics family. With 13 years of experience, we know that we can always count on her. She also loves her job and enjoys seeing each patient have a positive outcome. Having people like Ida on the team is a boost to morale and the patients love knowing they have someone that is going to notice the changes that they have been making their journey to a healthier life.
