John Parish has been advising patients on nutrition issues for more than 14 years. He has worked in both hospital and clinic settings to educate and counsel patients with obesity, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and other diagnoses. John is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and can advise patients on their exercise regimen. He combines these two passions when he teaches as an instructor in Nutrition and Physical Performance at a local college.
John joined the MyNewSelf Bariatrics team in May of 2015 because of his desire to work in the field of weight loss. “Weight loss and physical fitness are a passion of mine,” he said. “In this program, I am able to guide and monitor patients during their weight loss journey.”
John enjoys various forms of consistent exercise, including running, cycling, and resistance training. This helps John counterbalance an occasional high-calorie meal.

John knows that maintaining a healthy weight is very important to your overall bill of health. That’s why he actually maintains a very healthy lifestyle, which leads to a healthy weight. John will no only ask you to do consistent exercise because it’s good for you. He will ask you to do consistent exercise because it’s one of his passions. Since he likes to run, cycle, and do resistance training, this is something John will try to instill in you as part of his regimen.
